i saw a rumor a few weeks ago on reddit that the new imitate jesus convention is supposed to present new light and clarified understandings on the disfellowshipping/disassociation practices.. supposedly, if this rumor has any truth to it, there will be a talk given at the convention about how we should not be strict like the pharisees in how we shun people, loosening up some of the jw rules about this practice.. has anyone here heard anything about this or have more info on it?.

i just wanted to introduce myself and say a big hello to all of my mentally diseased friends.. i say friends because i have been lurking for some time so it feels like home (us lurkers are a bit scared and cautious so it takes a while).
i won't bore you with too many details, but i am a born in, currently serving as the cobe of a congregation.
my wife and i have pioneered for the last 10 years and were shaken awake by that ridiculous 15th july 2013 wt about the generation and 1914.. my wife who is much smarter than me has questioned for years.

I was an elder and pioneer for many years, and when I finally woke up, I moved to another hall across the city and faded totally. When I see former JW friends, I try not to engage them in JW stuff. You can't reason with them unless they are ready to wake up. It's been one hell of roller coaster ride. But not having to deal with Field service, tons of meetings, crazy teachings like you can't say bless you when someone sneezes or toast when drinking champagne, and disfellowshipping someone for touching someone breast but forgiving a child molester, is a huge weight off my shoulders and my health has improved 100% since I left.

my son was never a jw.
he was born about a dozen years after i left.
but he's heard about it from me and knows i was one.. recently he has a new best friend at school.
for decades, i remember the society, publications, and elders saying that once the great tribulation begins, it is too late to repent or be saved.
they said the "door of the ark will have been closed.".
now, however, look at the brand-new clarified understanding / new light on this from jw.org, below.. they are still saying that the majority of worldly people will not be saved, but they are now saying it is possible.. the simplified july study watchtower says this:.
If that's the case, then all us apostates will just jump in at the last minute and be saved!!!

however can you imagine the "weeping and gnashing of teeth" there would be on the part of all those parents and grandparents who lost whole decades of their lives spent shunning their kids? I know quite a few who would be doing just that.
Not as bad as those that lost loved ones who died because they were not allow certain blood fractions that are now acceptable.
Their growth has gone from 15% pre 1975 to 2% 2013 so is it possible that it has finally clicked. In other words the downward spiral of growth has finally woken them up to either do something or fizzle out. The practice of shunning is now open to the public and it is a practice that repels new membership. So for the sake of staying alive and getting more mainstream, I can see it happening. And if it happens the members will praise the Governing Body for the New Light and confirm in their minds that God is directing the Only Channel on earth.

Here's a thought. Would it had been a lot simpler for God to tell Noah, gather all the animals at the top of the mountain and your family, I will bring rain for 40 days until it reach about 50 feet from the top. That way all will be safe and you have vegetation plus it not necessary to cover all the mountain top. No need to spend years a building a boat, more time to preach...

So here is my question; is rank in the WT world a measure of gullibility. In other words, are Circuit overseers more gullible than elders, and elders more gullible than ministerial servants, and down the line?
It seems like the ones that never reached out and were hardly in field service were doing the best financially and other wise.

Can't get rid of 1914/607. It is the only thing keeping the organization together. Every single JW is Waiting for God to starting destroying everything and everyone except them. And it is all based on that one date. If they get rid of that date, there is no paradise to wait for anymore. It was all a ruse. That is the most Shocking thing of TTATT. That is what blows you away.

there was a group of us living in a small trailer in the mid 60s when and old pioneer brother knocked on our door and placed all kinds of books and magazines with us.
all of us took it seriously and studied and started attending the kingdom hall.
So "What if..." can get a person in trouble if they dwell on it too much.
